Period delay treatment is a private service at Vale of Neath Pharmacy. It is for anyone who would like to put their period off for a short time, for a reason that matters to them. That might be a wedding, a holiday, a long flight, a sporting event, an exam, or a religious occasion. You do not need to explain yourself at length. If you would rather not have your period on a particular date, you can ask about it.
What happens
You will have a private consultation with the pharmacist. We will ask about your general health, any medicines you take, and the dates you are hoping to cover. This helps us check whether the treatment is suitable and safe for you.
If it is suitable, the pharmacist will explain how and when to take it, and what to expect afterwards. If it is not suitable, we will tell you why and talk through what to do next.
Who can have it
The pharmacist will assess this with you during the consultation. Suitability depends on your health history and the medicines you are already taking, so it is decided case by case rather than in advance.
Planning ahead
It helps to come in well before the date you have in mind. Treatment usually needs to be started a few days before your period is due, so a little notice gives you more options.
