The Common Ailments Service lets you get advice, and treatment where it is needed, for a range of everyday health problems — without having to see your GP first. It is an NHS Wales service, and it is available here at Vale of Neath Pharmacy.
What happens
You will have a short, private chat with the pharmacist, usually in our consultation room. They will ask about your symptoms, how long you have had them, and any medicines you already take.
The pharmacist will then explain what they think is going on and what to do next. That might be simple advice, or treatment supplied through the service. If your problem would be better looked at elsewhere, they will tell you where to go and help you arrange it.
Who it is for
The service is there for common, everyday complaints rather than serious or long-standing problems. If you are not sure whether your symptoms are suitable, please just ask us — we would rather you checked than waited at home.
