Our pharmacists can provide a free urgent supply through the NHS Wales service, no GP appointment needed.
If you have run out of one of your regular repeat medicines and cannot get a prescription in time, we may be able to help. The Emergency Medicine Supply service lets our pharmacist give you an urgent supply of your usual prescription-only medicine, without you needing to see a GP first. It is part of the NHS Wales service and is free at the point of access.
What happens
You speak with the pharmacist in private. They will ask about the medicine you need, why you have run out, and how urgently you need it.
Please bring proof that you take the medicine. This could be an old repeat prescription slip, the empty packaging, or a bottle or box with your name on the label.
The pharmacist may also ask your permission to look securely at your Welsh GP Record. This helps them check your medication history before making a supply.
Things to know
- Controlled drugs, such as strong painkillers, cannot usually be supplied through this route.
- Any supply is always at the professional judgement of the pharmacist.
- The pharmacist will explain what they can do and what to do next if they cannot help.
How to arrange it
There is no need to book. Just come into Vale of Neath Pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist, remembering to bring your proof of medication with you.
