Check that your asthma or COPD inhaler is working as well as it should for you, with a private chat at your own pace
If you use an inhaler for asthma or COPD, an inhaler review is a chance to check that it is working as well as it should for you. It is offered through the NHS Wales Inhaler Review Service, delivered by accredited community pharmacists. The pharmacist at Vale of Neath Pharmacy will talk things through with you in private, at your own pace.
What happens during the review
The service has two levels.
- Level 1 – technical assessment. The pharmacist checks how you use your inhaler and helps you get the most from each dose. They will also look at whether you could safely switch to an inhaler with a lower carbon footprint, which is better for the environment.
- Level 2 – clinical review. This includes everything in Level 1, and also looks at how well your symptoms are controlled, how you are getting on with your regular medicines, and whether your treatment plan is working for you.
Who can have it
The service is for anyone who uses an inhaler for a respiratory illness such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
How to book
You do not need a referral from your GP. You can book online or simply call in and speak to a member of the team.
